Winter 2024/25: Seminar – Artificial Intelligence in Physics (theoretisch-physikalisches Seminar)

First meeting: Wed, Oct 23 in seminar room 1.14, buliding E2 6

After a brief introduction to machine learning (ML), specifically Deep Learning, this seminar aims to provide a broad overview of the use and development of ML techniques in physics research. Participants will introduce key concepts of ML, always with a focus on recent applications in research, such as in the fields of statistical physics, biophysics, and quantum physics.

To ensure all participants reach a common foundational understanding of deep learning, there will be two introductory lectures on the topic in weeks 2 and 3.

Our first meeting on October 23 serves two purposes:

  • Presentaiton of possible topics and talks
  • Talk by Jochen Hub: “How to give a scientific talk”
